Dr. Fan received his medical degree in 1986 from Hebei Medical University. Established in 1894, Hebei Medical University is one of the oldest and AAA graded medical schools in China.
He completed his first General Surgery Residency in 1992 at Langfang Regional Medical Center in China, a tertiary medical center of the surrounding 6 counties. In the last year of this 6-year traditional training program, Dr. Fan was appointed the General Resident Doctor of Surgery Department. He was on call in hospital 24 hours a day Monday through Saturday for an entire year.
After his residency, Dr. Fan was selected to receive advanced medical research training at Peking University Health Science Center, one of the top medical schools in China. He was mentored by Dr. Yanting Huang, a renowned Chinese surgeon and vice chairman of Chinese Surgical Society.
After his research training in 1995, Dr. Fan practiced General Surgery at Xuan Wu Hospital, a famous 1200 bed academic hospital in Beijing.
To practice General Surgery in the States, Dr. Fan took his second General Surgery Residency at University of Missouri - Kansas City. He completed this second training in 2014 and joined in our practice.

My wife, Dr. Lei Zhang, is a Cytogeneticist at Children’s Mercy Hospital and Clinic. We have two children, Michelle and Kevin. In my free time, I like to play my camera.
